Ocran worked as a mate for two years, sweating and toiling day and night when help ceased to come from the extended family due to the poor background.

After two years of hard working with no savings and low standard of living, he decided to change course and sought employment at the Department of Urban Roads as a laborer with his driving skills that he managed to learn as a mate.

Seth’s plan was to work till he gets 18 and gain promotion to become a driver with a valid driving license so after two years of hustling, he turned 18 and got a driver’s license, but that effort was too light to improve his well-being, as he continued to work as a laborer.

After a while, he realized his future at the department was dim and blur, because even his boss, who was the main honcho of the laborers, was struggling to make a good living.

Later, with his friends’ directions and help, he speculated into a business that sees him importing goods from Togo and supplying it to people at Makola.

Ocran, however, indirectly lost his capital when the Makola market in Accra got burnt while according to him, many people who owed him at that time got affected by the fire and could not pay back.

He later managed the effort to invest in several other businesses that eventually faced bad fate due to some situations.

Seth again went to work for VANEF Europcar in 1996 and worked there for four years, performing multi tasks such as a driver, night supervisor and sales representative.

On His BreakThrough………..

Ocran encountered his breakthrough when he met Canadian woman, Ms. Louise Griener, a Carl Bro. International (DANIDA) consultant to the Ghana Highway Authority, who was supervising a road contract in the country, approached VANEF to rent a car.

The woman opted for a driver who could divide his strength and work as a driver and office boy, and Ocran considered as a circular employee, his bosses quickly recommended him to her because he could perform multiple roles.

Ocran on his narrative story stated that, in the course of his work which sees him driving the woman around, the VANEF car kept breaking down, forcing them to push it a lot of the time so the woman eventually got fed up and decide to terminate her contract with VANEF in favour of another car rental service.

The woman optioned Ocran to resign from VANEF and join the new car rental service she planned to contract, Hert.

Ocran said an idea which came to his mind forced him to asked the woman if she would hire his car if he bought one and the woman gave an agreement answer to his question.

At that time, he was having a savings of GHc500, so he managed and bought a car for GHc1, 300 on hire purchase basis and then borrowed money from a friend for the registration of the vehicle, after which he began to work as a personal driver for the Canadian woman.

After three months of that work, his payment enabled him to complete the payment for the vehicle and seeing how hard working and determined he was, the woman his recommendation to several other foreign expatriates in the country.

Then he started borrowing cars from friends to enable him to expand his services to the increasing number of clients he was getting.

Later, his business boomed, so he bought more cars on hire purchase basis and made his business known by registering it.

In 2005, he built a modern office structure in Osu and won well contracts from the West African Gas Pipeline and several other companies.

Within 2006 and it’s late years, with the help of Ecobank and Stanbic bank, he acquired over 20 brand new vehicles, including 4 X 4 vehicles and additional 40 luxurious vehicles which enabled him to bid for a contract at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel, which he won in 2011.

Since that lucky moment, he has never dreamt of looking back but rather rapidly expanding the business and venturing into branches at other areas.
