Ghanaians in South Africa living in fear; cries for help

Ghanaians living in South Africa are currently living in fear following the recent attacks on Africans especially Nigerians by South Africans.

In explaining what led to the xenophobic attacks, they disclosed that an unfortunate incident happened last week Wednesday where a foreigner sold drugs to a South African.

Another South African who is a driver saw the foreigner selling the drugs and confronted him about it which led to a fight killing the South African driver in the process.

This unfortunate death of the driver infuriated South Africans living in Pretoria and therefore decided to attack foreigners.

They explained that the South Africans burnt shops owned by foreigners but fortunately no Ghanaian have been attacked.

They added that they are currently living in fear and are stuck in their houses with the fear of being killed when they go on the streets.

According to the Ghanaians living in South Africa, they want to return to Ghana but South Africans have taken over the streets making it impossible for them.

However, the High Commissioner of Ghana to South Africa, His Excellency Mr. George Ayisi-Boateng has stated that no Ghanaian has been attacked in South Africa.

He, therefore, advised Ghanaians living in South Africa to stay away from these areas and also stay safe.
