All NABCO trainees attached to the Ministry of Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs have been asked to return home.

The Minister, in a directive to the heads of agencies reporting to him, requested that the trainees be relieved because the program ended in October of last year.

The move comes despite the government’s assurances that they will be retained.

“Following a high-level stakeholder meeting with the lead NABCO Module Implementation Partners (MIPs) led by His Excellency, the Vice President of the Republic of Ghana and The Honourable Chief of Staff, all NABCO trainees are required to remain at post,” a statement signed by NABCO boss Dr Ibrahim Anyars on Monday 15 November 2021 said.

A new cohort of NABCO trainees will be recruited in 2022, according to the statement.

NABCO was established in 2017 as part of the Akufo-Addo administration’s efforts to address graduate unemployment in the country. Educate Ghana, Heal Ghana, Feed Ghana, Revenue Ghana, Digitize Ghana, Enterprise Ghana, and Civic Ghana were the seven modules that comprised the initiative.
