Government bans school attendance and all other public events exceeding 25 people in attendance for one month

The government of Ghana led by his excellency Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo Addo has announced the closure of all schools in Ghana in the wake of the wild spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19)

From pre-school, basic school, primary school, Junior High School, Senior High to the University, all schools have been closed for the next 4 weeks.

However, final years JHS and SHS students sitting for the BECE and WASSCE will be attending school for now.

Other public events such as funerals, religious services including church gathering and Moslem gatherings, parties, meetings, etc have all be suspended. The public can only gather if they are not exceeding 25 people at a moment.

1. All public gatherings including conferences, funerals, church activities have been suspended for 4 weeks.

2. All Universities, schools, etc have been closed from tomorrow. They’re to do distance learning.

3. Government travel bans announced still in force.

4. Ministry of transport to work with transport operators to enhance hygiene.

5. Supermarkets, malls, etc must ensure the highest standards of personal hygiene.

6. Ministry of Local Government must liaise with relevant authorities to improve hygiene standards in our markets.

7. Attorney General and Minister for Health to fast track processes to ensure legislative processes are implemented to back directives.

The decision was taken after the president, Nana Addo charged an inter-ministerial committee meeting on the pandemic on Sunday, March 15.
