Guy arrested for breaking up with retired senior police officer’s daughter

NIGERIA – David Nwokorie, who was arrested after a messy breakup with Genevieve Opara, the daughter of retired Deputy Inspector General of Police, Hilary Opara, has been released on bail.

His release came after famed Nigerian human rights activist, Omoyele Sowore stepped in.

As reported, Sowore helped push for David’s lawyer to process the bail, even though the police had earlier set very tough conditions.

Before his arrest, David was accused by Genevieve of cyberbullying and blackmail.

Genevieve, who works as a Deputy Manager at the National Pension Commission and is married to an officer from the Road Safety Corps, claimed David sent her disturbing messages after their breakup.

In these alleged messages, David accused Genevieve of having mental health struggles, being emotionally unhealed, and getting her job because of her father’s influence.

He also called her unteachable and hot-headed.

Meanwhile, according to David’s lawyer, Barrister Ezike Chibuzor, the trouble started after David found out that Genevieve had been previously married and had two children.

According to the lawyer, David claims Genevive never told him she was initially married and shares two kids with her ex-husband.

After the discovery, David ended the relationship. Things got worse in January when Genevieve allegedly found out that David had proposed to another woman.

She reportedly went to his home and destroyed some of his property.

David demanded N25 million as compensation and later made a flyer with her picture saying she was “wanted” for the damages.

In response, Genevieve filed a police complaint, leading to David’s arrest.
