Husband, wife, children and mother-in-law perish as vehicle plunges into river

A family of six have perished following a vehicle accident that occurred on the Kumasi Nkawie Sefwi highway on the evening of Saturday, January 8, 2022.

The victims, including a couple, their Mother In-law and three children, were returning from a wedding when they met their untimely deaths.

According to reports, the husband, who was driving a Honda Civicย vehicle in which they were travelling, attempted an overtaking and saw another vehicle approaching him with equal speed.

In an attempt to swerve, they landed in a nearby river and got drowned in the process.

The Ashanti Regional Police MTTD commander Chief Superintendent, Adu-Boahen, who confirmed the incident to EIB Newsโ€™ Ashanti Regional correspondent Isaac Justice Bediako said:

โ€œYes the report on the accident has come to my attention. That six people have died in the Nkawie area. Investigation have commenced. Iโ€™m yet to received fact on the accident from my officers on the ground”.

One of the victims, Eunice Maame Fosua, was a Community Health nurse with Forifori Health Center in Afram Plains South District in Eastern region but currently on study leave studying post-basic midwifery.

Starrfm.com.gh reported a close friend of the perished family as saying, the family โ€œattended the wedding of Euniceโ€™s sister-in-law (that is her husbandโ€™s sister ). They were six (6) in the car and all of them couldnโ€™t make it. Eunice, the husband, Euniceโ€™s mother, their child and two other children.”
