Rap Docta, Okyeame Kwame said that he had a problem with Medikal’s “Shoulder” song being proclaimed as the “Most Popular Song Of The Year” at the just-ended TGMA.
The “Clap” hitmaker, speaking in an exclusive interview with Tony Best on Akoma FM shared that this year’s TGMA was one of the best so far, noting that everything, including the appearances of the personalities on the red carpet and was more than perfect.
“The red carpet looked beautiful. Nana Akua Addo’s outfit was amazing and of world-class design. Not only her, Sister Derby, and everyone else also looked stunning and pulchritudinous”, the musician also noted.
Speaking on the winners of the night, the ace Ghanaian musician said that whoever the cup fits, wear it on the night of the much anticipated event, as he praised Black Sherif’s hard work, which made him be crowned as the Artist of the year.
According to Okyeame Kwame, Black Sherif deserved the award because he is so talented and has worked so hard to become the Black Sherif he is today.
However, Okyeame Kwame shared that he was taken aback when Medikal’s “Shoulder” was named the “Most Popular Song Of The Year”.
The rapper claims initially, he thought the remix of “Shoulder” was bigger and more popular than the original song, however, following the awards, he was more educated on which among the duo was more popular and bigger, hence, he has come to understand that the original “Shoulder” deserved the “Most Popular Song Of The Year”.
“Especially for artist of the year, I am very big on Blacko. He deserves to win it because he is very talented and musical. It is not as if someone is pushing him to get what he doesn’t deserve. So, he deserves to win. And, Strongman, in fact, everyone who won deserved it”, he said.
Adding that “The one I didn’t understand was the most popular song of the year, “Shoulder”. And, even with that, Portfolio has explained to me that the remix wasn’t as big as the original version. Therefore, if the “Shoulder” is bigger than the remix, then it’s fine”.
