Wiyaala has explained why she is known to have a husband but sometimes refers to herself as unmarried.

In an interview on Adom TV, the Afro-pop singer and songwriter who mostly sings in her native language Sissala and Waala dialects revealed that she had not fully fulfilled the demands of her tradition.

She disclosed that per her culture, a married woman is supposed to be shown around the whole village as part of her marriage rites- a tradition she is yet to fulfill.

Born Noella Wiyaala, the songstress revealed recently, in an interview with Becky on the E with Becks show on Joy Prime, that she has been married for 4 years in a private ceremony.

According to her, until this final rite is performed, her people would never consider her married and are open to accepting any other man who asks for her hand in marriage.

She is quoted as saying, ”They will have to take me around the whole village to show I am married. For now, I am as free as a bird but on the English level I am kind of married but the man will have to send the cola nuts to do the proper knocking.”

To confirm her comments, Wiyaala was spotted in a video escorting a friend of hers during her final nuptial rites while she went around her village to complete her marriage.
