Ghanaian singer Deborah Vanessa aka Sister Derby has defended her decision to send out a birthday message to rapper Medikal even after they had separated.
According to her, she had moved on thus the message she sent to him was not hinged on the perception that she still loves Medikal and wishes to have him back.
Sister Derby raised eyebrows in her birthday message to Medikal where she described him as “sweet ex.” Many felt the “Kakalika” hitmaker was poking her nose into the affairs of the “Omo Ada” crooner by making a subtle statement about how she felt about him.
Medikal and Sister Derby’s relationship ended up in a tornado which had the two go their separate ways. Although both have moved on, Sister Derby had clarified that things were smooth until Fella Makafui came into the picture.
According to her, Fella was the reason her relationship with Medikal, which was promising, came crushing down…she stated in a recent interview.
However, Sister Derby in the same interview has said her birthday message to Medikal was devoid of malice with no intention of wooing him back neither did it come out from a place of pain, envy or jealousy.
“Just because I’m wishing someone a happy birthday doesn’t mean I haven’t moved on.” Because he is a public figure and we were in a public relationship, I wished him (Medikal) a happy birthday. “Through text messages, I wish some of them (exes) a happy birthday.”
“I don’t make theirs public because they were private and I moved on a long time ago.” As I previously stated, I would not have released Kakalika Love if I had not moved on. And, in the end, I ended the relationship. So, what exactly do you mean I haven’t progressed? Do I appear depressed? Do I appear to be struggling? “Do I have creases?” She enquired.
