On Wednesday, the MP for Adansi-Asokwa revealed how Asamoah Gyan tried to sabotage him when he was Captain of the National team.
He claimed that Asamoah Gyan called for punitive action against him in 2008 during the AFCON for criticizing the national team’s poor performance.
Despite the fact that he was not present, the information was somehow relayed to him.
“During the 2007/2008 AFCON, Asamoah Gyan reported me to President Kufour that I’d made a statement to the effect that they were messing with our hearts, so Mr Kufour should do whatever was in his power to punish me or something,” he recalled.
“I wasn’t there, but you should know that even walls have ears.” So those present came up to him and said, ‘Asamoah Gyan has reported you to the President.”
He explained that but for some reason, the President did not take any action against him. He stated that he has since developed a dislike for the former Black Stars captain.
“Obviously, the President was preoccupied with a slew of national issues.” I’m sure he missed this one. So I waited for his phone call, but it never came. So I’ve never been satisfied with him until today, when he came to us with the penalty,” he explained. Following his remarks, his colleagues burst out laughing.
