I’m retired and I’m not coming back – Stephen Appiah

Former Blackstars captain, Stephen Appiah has vehemently denied the fast trending rumours that he would play for the Black Stars again.

According to earlier reports on social media, Stephen Appiah was scheming for a bid behind the scenes to be added to the Blackstars squad for Qatar 2022.

The report followed after an old video of the soccer legend training at the stadium resurfaced on the internet.

However, reacting to this on his Twitter page, Appiah said the video was an advert he shot in Thailand 10 years ago adding that he remains retired.

Stephen Appiah who’s now 41-year-old called time on his football career in 2012 and was honoured with a testimonial game at the Accra Sports Stadium in 2015.

He is widely regarded as one of Ghana’s greatest-ever captains after helping to introduce a flat bonus structure for both local and foreign-based players.
