Immediate past president of the Republic of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, has been labeled by some member group of the NDC as incapable of winning power for the opposition party.
A pressure group within the NDC is not only rejecting the call for Mahama to lead the party but also calling on regional executives to reject the decision of the ten regional chairmen.

This pressure group is of the view that there are hidden attempts by some party executives to “manipulate processes in favor of John Dramani Mahama”.
In a press statement, the pressure group recommended that having a new flagbearer for the party will give the opposition a strong side, not to only rebrand but give the NPP a tough side.
“Recycling John Mahama as our flagbearer would reinforce critics’ claim that the NDC does not have presidential materials. This has the tendency to bolster the confidence of our opponents’ grassroots, and dampen the spirit of our rank and file,” extract of the press release stated.
Meanwhile, John Dramani Mahama has been endorsed to contest the 2020 general elections by a team of ten regional chairmen of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).
