Ghanaian midfielder Kwame ‘Conte’ Bonsu has been freed after spending barely a year behind bars in Sweden for assaulting his former wife.
The former Hearts of Lions player was sentenced after a court in Sweden found him guilty of abuse and rape on his former wife and sentenced him to 2 years in prison.

Prior to his conviction, Kwame Bonsu who is 22 years played for second-tier side Gefle IF in Sweden after joining from Mjallby AIF two seasons ago but was accused of the act which took place in 2015.
He appealed his sentence which was reduced to a year and ten months but was freed after spending just a year.
