JHS Dropout Impregnates Four Friends In Assin Odumase

A 23-year-old Junior High School(JHS) dropout is currently on the run after putting four teenage girls aged between 16 and 19 years in a family way.

This incident happened at Assin Odumase in the Assin South District in the Central region, with the impregnated girls now left to carry the burden alone.

The suspect reportedly absconded from the town after parents of the impregnated girls lodged a complaint with the police.

We are informed that the case has been in court since January 2018, as the Assin Fosu Magistrate court seeks to get to the root of the matter.

The case which came to light during a visit of the Standing Committee on Gender and Children of Parliament to the Assin South District to discuss the increasing rate of rape and teenage pregnancy in the District.

Divisional Police Commander of Assin Fosu, Chief Supt Henry Bacho, who was speaking at the durbar, said suspects apprehended by the Police are not just granted bail, contrary to what majority of the public think.

According to him, the police would only release a suspect when there is a lack of evidence to put the suspect behind bars.

The Member of Parliament for Afram Plains North, Betty Krosby Mensah who is a member of the Committee on Gender and Children advised the people to avoid discrimination against women, as women contribute immensely towards development in the country.
