John Dumelo And The Bread Hawker: Publicity Stunt or Political Mockery Gone Wrong?
If I say John Dumelo is being bashed by Ghanaians for an image he posted on Instagram then it’s an understatement for what Ghanaians did and are still doing to him. But was what he posted the whole truth?
Before you get confused, let me explain a little bit about it to you. Yesterday morning, the handsome Ghanaian actor and staunch supporter of the NDC government, John Dumelo posted an image of a young man, Kwaku Vito. O Boateng, hawking break on the street with the caption ” I just saw a KNUST grad hawking in traffic…what went wrong”.
Most Ghanaians have concluded John Dumelo meant to ridicule, undermine and disrespect a young man trying to earn a living and they weren’t kind to him at all.
Whiles most Ghanaians are pissed with John, I kept asking myself wasn’t this the intention of the post? Didn’t John post it to gain publicity for the young man and his bread? or It was actually a political mockery gone bad?
In the first, the young man, Kwaku Boateng is very popular in Kumasi and the whole of Ashanti region for that matter for his entrepreneurship skills. He happens to own the most common bread in the Kumasi. Am talking about the famous Auntie Mary bread.
Auntie Mary bread with over 50 huge billboards in Kumasi alone gave out a brand new Camry as a gift to a consumer during last year Christmas through a raffle. He directly employs not less than 300 workers at his bakery. For retailers, uncountable.
The A1 break is a new brand Kwaku is introducing into the market. Thinking as an entrepreneur myself, I wouldn’t mind paying GH¢2000 for a renown actor to promote me. I will gladly do it.
Considering the fact that it is well known John Dumelo is in that kind of business. Like he does for media sites and entertainment personalities on his social media accounts.
And again. John is someone who does not disrespect humble beginners. He recently revealed he is going into cassava farm production. Why will he make a mockery of another doing the same? It makes no sense.
Moreover, If it’s not a publicity stunt, how the hell did John Dumelo know the stranger he met in traffic is KNUST graduate? Just how. Knowing John, he will have quickly deleted the post if he goofed. But its still there
On the other hand, John being NDC supporter who just lost the presidency to a different political party who promised to create jobs. It could be it was actually a mockery considering the guy is from Kumasi, the stronghold of the NPP government.
Whatever be the case, John’s aim of trending with the guy has been achieved…lol
