For days now, the media has been washed with the news that former president John Dramani Mahama took $8 Million from the embattled Ghana Football Association President Kwesi Nyantakyi prior to the 2016 General elections.

According to Joynews report cited by Ghpage.com Mr. Nyantakyi in a statement to the Criminal Investigations Department, CID, of the Ghana Police on May 23 reportedly disclosed that an amount of $8 million was given to Mr. Mahama and the NDC ahead of 2016 elections.

The report further revealed as carried by Ghpage.com that the Police CID are currently investigating the statement to confirm whether or not the money was sent, how it was sent if at all it was and who received what amount by John Mahama. The CID they say, are also looking into a possible breach of financial laws if indeed the amount of money was sent.

But reacting to this allegation, JM has called it a propaganda being carried out by the multimedia group to taint his image. He expressed his disappointment with a media giant such as the Multimedia group for allowing itself to be used for such ‘dirty works’.

Former President John Dramani Mahama tweeted:

“Over the years, people have fought and in some cases paid the ultimate price for the freedoms we enjoy today. When a supposedly respected media house like Multimedia allows itself to be used for such base political propaganda, it besmirches our common honor and the sacrifices that we have made as a people.”

Mr. Kofi Adams who was the 2016 Campaign Coordinator for the ruling party, NDC has also come out to deny the allegation. He explained that the campaign team never received any such money form Mr. Kwesi Nyantayi and the statement is being perpetrated by loyalists of the current president.

“This lie and many desperate acts over the last few days cannot and will not exonerate President Akufo-Addo from the various acts of wanton corruption and the revelation that Nyantakyi is captured on the said tape making, including asking for various sums of money from people on his behalf”, Mr. Kofi Adams stated.

RE: ANAS VIDEO: MAHAMA’S NAME POPS UP IN $8 MILLION NYANTAKYI SCANDAL

I have noted, as the Campaign Coordinator of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Campaign in 2016, a desperately concocted story carried by Accra radio station, JoyFM, that an unknown person gave an amount of $8 million to the party for the elections.

This is a subterfuge and a deliberately woven lie, between JoyFM, Kwesi Nyantakyi, and the Police CID, for the sole purpose of sharing the profound damage done to the President and some of his lieutenants by claims made in the Anas video by Kwesi Nyantakyi.

This lie and many desperate acts over the last few days cannot and will not exonerate President Akufo-Addo from the various acts of wanton corruption and the revelation that Nyantakyi is captured on the said tape making, including asking for various sums of money from people on his behalf.

Neither the NDC nor our candidate, John Dramani Mahama, received any amount from an unknown person.
