According to the Western Regional Police PRO, ASP Olivia Adiku, Mallam Latif Abdul Mumuni was arrested on the charge of defrauding one John Opoku and three others from Wassa and Kwame Dikrom an amount of GH¢ 81,000.00.

The arrest was made by the Wassa District Military Patrol Officers, assisted by the four victims on Sunday, December 31.

Mallam Latif was reported to have taken the said money from the complainants to enable him to dig out some gold buried by the complainants’ dead grandparents.

However, after providing some needed items for Mallam Latif in addition to the money as part of the agreement, he failed his part and rather handed them various denominations of fake currencies in US dollars, Euro, CFA and Cedis, all summing up to GH¢ 1.5 million.
