Kenyan woman, Judy Muringu, has opened up about the painful journey of betrayal, illness, and regret that continues to haunt her years after making wrong choices.
Judy, originally from Kirinyaga County, finished high school in 2005 and moved to Nairobi in 2007 in search of a better life.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with TUKO Talks, she said was staying with a friend when she caught the attention of a neighbour who expressed romantic interest in her.
I felt lucky,” she said. “He became my first boyfriend and later, in 2008, my husband.”
The young lovebirds were still poor, with Judy earning a living as a small-scale businesswoman and her husband working as a junior accountant.
Despite their humble beginnings, they stuck together and started building wealth, moving from a one-bedroom apartment to a mansion.
Their marriage appeared strong until years later, when her husband was diagnosed with diabetes and started battling depression.
He was also accused of embezzling funds at his workplace and taken to court, a case that drained all their finances.

During this emotionally and financially difficult time, Judy was approached by a client who offered to help her with money.
“It was not love. He just took advantage of me because I was at my lowest,” she revealed.
After accepting KSh 5,000 which is almost equivalent to GHS 400 from him, she soon began experiencing recurrent infections. Three months later, in early 2017, she was diagnosed with HIV.
Her health rapidly deteriorated, with her skin peeling and rashes appearing, which finally pushed her to seek medical treatment and begin antiretroviral therapy.
Despite the devastating diagnosis and ailing health, Judy admitted to making another mistake, which is falling into yet another affair.
This time, she became pregnant. When her husband learned of the pregnancy and realised the child wasn’t his, the emotional toll was unbearable.
Already struggling with his health, the revelation dealt him a heavy blow. He passed away in June 2016 after a short illness, a loss Judy says she has never stopped blaming herself for.
