The demand for 2m Cedis & All you need to know about the Krobo youth and Sarkodie’s Court Case

Legal Counsel of Krobo Youth led by Dr Kwadjo Appiagyei-Atuah serves ultimatum to Kurl Songx, Sarkodie

“A Notice of Intention To Sue” have been served to Michael Owusu Addo (Sarkodie), David Kojo Kyei (Kaywa) and Kurl Songx over their roles they played in denigrating the image of Krobo women.

Kloma Hengme, a Krobo youth group has served Kurl Songx, a letter for using denigrating words against Krobo women in the ‘Jennifer Lomotey’ song.

The letter Ghpage.com sighted was signed by their lawyer Kwadwo Appiagyei-Atua (Dr) Solicitor and Barrister-at-Law, on Wednesday, 14th June, 2017. and was presented to David Kojo Kyei aka Kaywa, the manager of the artist.

In the song that features rap ‘King’ Sarkodie, raps: “Kr?b? nii baa papa a ahwene? da ne sisi. ?k?mfo An?kye de adwaman no ab? ne dua.” This literally translates as “A good Krobo lady with beads around her waist. Okomfo Anokye has cursed her with promiscuity.”

The Krobo Youth earlier released a press statement asking the owners of the song to edit out the derogatory phrase against Krobo women and apologize as well.

‘unsubstantiated History’ has it that some Krobo girls were cursed by Okomfo Anokye with promiscuity because they had seen his nakedness when he was bathing by the Riverside.

Kurl Songx with Sarkodie

The aforementioned letter served to these three mentioned six (6) conditions they must satisfy or be sued in the court of law.Among them are;

  • Pay compensation of Two Million Ghana Cedis (Ghc 2,000,000) to the Krobo people.
  • Write an apology to the Chiefs and People of the Krobo area
  • Remove the “denigrating” portion of the lyrics
  • completely ban the use of the song from the air waves
  • Stop the media houses from playing the song
  • Make a statement to the general public advising them to desist from transferring or sharing the song
