“Angela” hitmaker Kuami Eugene has responded to claims that he is always stealing songs from other artistes.
The young musician after the release of his track “Confusion”, Kuami was criticised from all angles on social media for stealing the song from Malian singer Sidiki Diabaté he was later accused of picking most of his “Wish me well” lyrics from a song by Nigerian superstar Ice Prince.
Speaking in an interview on Hitz FM’s “Hitz High Table” Kuami Eugene said some people wished Ghanaians talk about them but they don’t get it but with the help of God, Ghanaian bloggers talk about every song he brings out.
Going further he stated that at first, it got to him when people say he has stolen someone’s song but going through the comments of his boss Richie Mensah, he realized that people also stated he stole other artiste songs which made him accept the fact that people would always say bad things to try and bring you down.
Throwing more light on his “Wish me well” song theft, he said Ice Prince told him he (Ice Prince) has been picking most of his words from Bob Marley which nobody has complained about and doesn’t understand why Ghanaians can’t do same.
“He (Ice Prince) did not understand why people said I stole his song. He picked the inspiration from Bob Marley yet no one from his family came to say I stole lines. He was surprised Ghanaians were criticising me for doing the same,” he said.
