Kumawood star, Kwadwo Nknsah Lilwin has disclosed in a recent interview with Brye FM in Koforidua that he is highly disappointed in the management of Ghana Textiles Printing Limited (GTP) for naming cloths after the late Priscilla Opoku Kwarteng aka Ebony Reigns.
Before the funeral of Ebony Reigns on 24 March, GTP in collaboration with the family of the late dancehall artist produced cloths in her memory. The title of some of her popular songs was used to name the new cloths.
For her funeral and other funeral services, GTRP unveiled ‘Mama Hwe’ which came in Black and White pieces. They further pledged to release another set of cloths ‘Aseda’ named after one of Ebony’s songs. It will be used for occasions such as Naming ceremony and others.
But reacting to the honor done the late singer by GTP, Lilwin revealed it just hypocritical that top companies in Ghana reject proposal form celebrities but find it needful to honor them when they are dead.
“I’m very much disappointed at GTP for unveiling cloths for Ebony after she is dead. They did not support her or manufacture a cloth for her when she was alive…GTP could have supported Ebony’s brand the time she was alive. Ghanaians would only use celebrities to sell their products when we are dead,” Kwadwo Nkansah fired.
Kwadwo Nkansah Lilwin made mention of popular artistes in Ghana who are projecting the GTP brand and need to honored. But the management will not do it and will wait till they are dead before they come and do what was expected of them.
“Look at M.anifest, he is always in African print but they will not use him until he is gone before they realize that he was into African prints,” Kwadwo Nkansah Lilwin added.
