Former president John Dramani Mahama has consoled Bukom Banku after his defeat to Samir Bastie last Saturday night.
He said that whiles at the same time having some congratulatory message for the eventual winner Bastie Samir for beating Bukom Banku in a boxing bout on Saturday.
Banku started the fight as the favorite due to his experience and won the opening 2 rounds, but Samir recovered well to win round 3 where he first punched Banku to the floor.
Bastie Samir again administered a combination of jabs in an unexpectable manner to daze Banku in the 7th round.
Referee Roger Banor, decided to end the grief of Banku who clearly looked out of touch.
In a reaction to the fight in a Facebook post the former president acknowledge the atmosphere as well as the entertainment the bout erupted.
“Great night of boxing at the Bukom Boxing Arena yesterday. The patronage, entertainment, and competitive spirit fulfills the purpose for which the facility was built,”
Mahama then had some kind words for Banku whiles he congratulated the winner, Samir.
“Congrats to winner Bastie and better luck next time to my friend and brother Braimah Kamoko aka Bukom Banku. Both boxers were winners last night. I’m convinced that the Bukom Arena will become the incubator for the next generation of Ghanaian boxing champions”
