Controversial legal practitioner Maurice Ampaw has threatened to sue the government over the introduction of Comprehensive Sexuality Education in basic schools.
According to the legal practitioner, it is illegal for children especially below 12 years to be introduced to sex education.
Maurice Ampaw also stated that some teachers can use this medium to sexually abuse their children, adding that he will not sit unconcerned about it.
He vowed to take legal action against the government if the subject is introduced into the curriculum.
Maurice Ampaw suggested that the new curriculum can be introduced to students from junior high school and not toddlers.
“It is illegal to teach every child at that tender age sexuality. Parents have the interest to protect their children from exploitation.
If you dare teach my child below 12 about sex, I will sue you because I can’t afford to have my child getting abused sexually by teachers because they are being taught sexuality.
The old system is far better than what is being proposed now. Sex education should begin from junior high school and not toddlers. It is a non-starter.
Teachers are already abusing our children sexually and so if you bring in such a subject, then we will begin to witness sexual abuse on children who have no capacity about sex”, Maurice Ampaw stated.
This comes after the Ghana Education Service announced the introduction of Comprehensive Sexuality Education in basic school.
Many Ghanaians and religious leaders have opposed this decision by the Ghana Education Service claiming it is a ploy to introduce homosexuality to the youth.
