Medikal’s mother, Portia Lamptey, has revealed how challenging bringing Medikal up was. She disclosed that, she had always wanted Medikal to become a medical doctor but Medikal had a different vision for himself.
She said Medikal had always wanted to do music and had been working towards it. According to her, he was sacked from two different schools because of his passion for rap.

She told Andy Dosty of Hitz FM that Medikal was very stubborn and committed to his desire of becoming a rapper.
She said that although she used to beat him with the intent of him focusing on becoming a doctor, he never rescinded his decision to become a rapper.
She said;
“I had wanted Medikal to become a doctor so initially I fought him a lot. Sometimes I will lock him in the room and be beating him, he even has a scar on his side, one day when you meet him you can ask him to show it to you. He was very stubborn then”

Medikal’s mother revealed that the “Omo Ada” rapper was sacked from St John’s Grammer School due to his keen interest in rap.
She said her son was expelled because a lot of the boys in the school were always following him on campus because they wanted to learn how to rap from him and their movements were disrupting academic studies.
