A rather unusual thing happened on the last day of 2021 and the early part of 2022 after a pregnant woman gave birth to twins at a hospital in California, USA.
Due to a 15-minute difference between their births, a set of twins will always celebrate their birthdays in two distinct years.
According to the report, their mother identified as Fatima Madrigal went into labour at 11:45 pm on December 31, 2021, where she gave birth to one of the twins named Alfredo.
Madrigal and her husband Robert Trujillo welcomed their second child, a girl named Aylin, fifteen minutes later, which happened to be the first day of the new year.
That is, Alfredo and Aylin are twins, yet their birthdays are different in terms of date, month, and year.
The ecstatic mother expressed her delight at the fact that the second twin arrived at midnight, giving the twins separate birthdays.
“It’s crazy to me that they are twins and have different birthdays,” Madrigal said in a press release from the Natividad Medical Center.
The rare occurrence, according to family doctor Dr Ana Abril Arias, was one of the most memorable deliveries of her career.
She went on to say that it had been an amazing joy to be in charge of making sure the twins were delivered safely in separate years.
