The main suspect in the murder of the late Tiger Eye PI journalist, Ahmed Hussein-Suale has been nabbed by the police, Ghpage.com can confirm. His name is Abdul Rashid Meizongo (Zongo Chief), a 29-year-old man.
From the report gathered, he was arrested at the West Hills Mall in Accra where he had arranged to meet a police officer to help him stop the police from pursuing him for a fee. But the police informed his superiors and an ambush was laid for Meizongo which he fell right in.
DCOP Kwaku Boadu Peprah, Acting Accra Regional Police Commander said:
“We had information that the suspect called a Policeman that he has got information that the Accra Regional Police Command is looking for him in connection with Suale’s death and that he wants the Policeman to assist him so the Accra Regional Police will stop pursuing him.
“He asked the Police to meet him at West Hills Mall so he will give some amount of money to give to the police officers who are looking for him. So we asked our men to arrange the Policeman he will call.”
“He went and laid an ambush at West Hills Mall and when he came we got him arrested. We brought him to Accra Regional Police headquarters and now we have transferred him to Police CID headquarters because that is where they are investigating that murder case.”
Ahmed Hussein-Suale was the lead investigator in Anas’ Number 12 exposé which saw the president of Ghana Football Association president, Mr. Kwesi Nyantakyi being banned for life by FIFA from all football activities.
He was gruesomely murdered at Medina, a suburb of Accra in January 2019 after months of receiving threat following the premiering of the exposé. His identity was made public by the MP for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong who called on people to beat him when they find him.
After his death, the member of parliament pleaded innocent to the murder of Ahmed Suale. According to him, had nothing against the late journalist to call for his murder; he only exposed his identity but he never told anyone to kill him.
“He has never offended me. So, they should go and investigate those he has offended not me. He and his boss [Anas] have offended so many people in this country. The evil they have been doing will follow them,” Kennedy Agyapong said on Neat FM after the murder of Ahmed.
13 people were arrested interrogated following the murder and discharged. Before Abdul Rashid Meizongo arrest another key suspect had already been arrested and he is assisting investigations.
