Aggrieved Menzgold customers are once again staging another demonstration in the Regional Capital of Ashanti Region, Kumasi to display their displeasure with their locked up investment with the embattled gold dealership company, Menzgold owned by Nana Appiah Mensah today, Tuesday 8th January 2019.
From reports reaching Ghpage.com, the demonstrators numbering a little above 50 customers have blocked the Amakom to Adum road and are angrily burning tires in front of the Amakom office of Menzgold.
They are equally displaying placards calling on the powers that be to come to their aid and help them retrieve their money from Menzgold.
Francis Owusu, the spokesperson of the coalition of aggrieved customers of Menzgoldhad earlier on told Citi News the purpose of the demonstration is to impress on the president of Ghana and the King of Ashanti to step in and get their money for them from Nana Appiah Mensah.
Francis Owusu said:
“It is going to be one of the mega protests that have even happened in this country because all the Menzgold customers across the country will be coming to Kumasi to protest against the insensitivity of our president towards our plight. We have petitioned Otumfuo Osei Tutu II on this issue and we have been to his office for about three times so we are going to send a letter of reminder to Otumfuo’s office,” he said.
However, the police in Ashanti Region has declared the ongoing demonstration as illegal because the demonstrators did not follow laid down procedure. They have asked the group to disband and go home.
