Minister Fires 14 Workers Over Lateness To Work

Minister for railway development, Joe Ghartey, has sacked some 14 workers at his ministry after they turned up to work late.

The weird action by the minister follows earlier warning he had issued against lateness in his ministry.

In an interview with the finder newspaper, he revealed; “It was a wake-up call and I will monitor their response which I believe will be positive. I have to put on record that the staff have worked very hard last year but I am just asking them to work harder”.

During the inauguration speech of Nana Addo, he called on Ghanaians not to be lackadaisical towards work and also respect working hours.

The action by the minister, however, follows calls on Ghanaians by the president of the republic, Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo to attach a high level of seriousness to their line of work.
