Minority calls Lydia Alhassan a ‘Bloody Widow’

as they storm out during the swearing-in ceremony

Earlier, there was a report where the  Minority in parliament boycotted the swearing-in of the new elected Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon, Lydia Seyram Alhassan.

However, the minority did not just storm out of the premises but rained insults on her by calling her a ‘bloody widow’.

Some members of the minority where holding signs and placards with the inscription ‘Bloody Widow’.

This is a result of the just ended by-election at Ayawaso West Wuogon which ended in over 18 people sustaining gunshot wounds from armed gunmen believed to be members of the National Security.

Also, the Minority Chief Whip, Mubarak Mohammed Muntaka stated that the minority will not be taking part in the swearing-in of the newly elected Member of Parliament.

“In commiseration to support our comrades and citizens that were unnecessary hurt and brutally assaulted, I am sorry to say we cannot indulge in this. Our side of the house cannot be here to witness this swearing in”, Mubarak Muntaka stated.

Some members of the minority booed and screamed ‘shame’ as the Speaker of Parliament read the summons from the Electoral Commission.

However, the newly elected Member of Parliament, Lydia Seyram Alhassan was led to take the oath of office despite the commotion.
