Minority And Drivers Angry Over DVLA Mandatory “GH¢108” First Aid Charge

The Driver and Vehicle License Authority in Ghana has recently introduced a mandatory first aid toolkit charge and that has triggered drivers all over the country into serious reactions.

The new mandatory charge which was commenced on Tuesday, January 2, 2018, is reported to affect both private and commercial vehicles in the country.

Regards to the new DVLA policy, every vehicle owner or driver who visits the DVLA office for vehicle registration will have to spit out an amount of GH¢108 additionally to the registration money to obtain a first aid toolkit.

A report allegedly added that failure to pay your additional GH¢108 to the authorities will result in failure to issue you your paid licensed which is considered very weird.

As usual, this serious issue has triggered most of the car owners and drivers in the country into many anxious reactions at various lorry stations.

UTV news speaking in an interview with some of the angry drivers and car owners, they indicated that they are heedless to this mandatory policy by their authorities as they suggest it must be something optional not to be imposed on them.

They added that most of these drivers are ignorance on how to use this first aid box and as such will be a waste of money to pay such a huge amount for something that will be of no use to you.

Meanwhile, the Minority in Parliament, according to sources has expressed unhappiness about the development and are calling on the government to immediately collapse the move as it can create an adversity.

As suggested by the drivers, the minority in their view thinks the charge for the first aid toolkit should be optional and not forced on vehicle owners.
