A few days ago, GhPage.com reported that a finalist of the recently ended Miss Commonwealth Ghana beauty pageant had been sent to a juju man to be beaten after 500 Ghana cedis went missing in the home the contestants were being housed during the competition.
According to Nana Ama Essien the finalist who underwent this painful ordeal, she was stripped naked and beaten with a cutlass in a shrine after the rituals the fetish priest conducted suggested that she was the one who had stolen the GH¢500.00 from a fellow contestant during the competition.
In a recent development, mother of the victim, madam Owusu Ansah in an interview on Adom TV’s morning show, was heartbroken as she detailed her daughter’s ordeal.
“I never heard the story until I heard my daughter spoke about it on Adom FM and I was hurt when I saw my daughter; I actually broke down,”
”She [my daughter] told me she had been to hell and back. If not for God, my daughter would have been dead,”
Mrs Owusu Ansah insisted that her daughter is innocent. She insisted that the allegations of theft levelled against her are bogus and made up to dent her daughter’s image.
Defending daughter she said;
“Nana Ama will not pick my money even when I leave it in the room. Even if she picks it, she will give it back to me. Why would she steal GH?500,”
Mrs Owusu Ansah is demanding justice for her daughter who was brutally tortured and abused. The family has lodged an official case against the organizers and the Fetish priest with the Eastern Regional Police command.
In related matters, The Eastern Regional Police Command has confirmed that the Chief Executive Officer of the Commonwealth Beauty Pageant, Princess Duncan who sent the girls to a fetish priest popularly called Togbe Shito, at Kukurantumi in the Akyem Abuakwa North Municipality and four others along with the Fetish Priest are under investigation.
