Mohammed Kudus has been demoted to the fourth captain of the Black Stars after controversially leading the team in AFCON 2025 qualifiers against Sudan and Niger. His appointment over veteran Jordan Ayew sparked nationwide debate.
Now, Kudus ranks below Ayew, Thomas Partey, and Alexander Djiku in the leadership structure.
Partey has rejected the role, while Kudus reportedly has no interest in captaining.
Regardless of the change, the 24-year-old West Ham United midfielder remains a key player for Ghana and is expected to play a crucial role in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar.
