Former first lady of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings has revealed in an interview that her mother was against her marriage to former President Jerry John Rawlings.
According to the former first lady, her mother the late Mrs Felicia Agyeman opposed her marriage to the army officer and questioned why she wanted to marry him.

She also revealed that her mother’s disapproval almost ended her relationship with the former president whom she met at Achimota School.
According to her, her father approved of her relationship with Rawlings which is now regarded as one of the most successful marriages in Ghana.
“I think the difficulty was with my mother, my father didn’t complain because Jerry had gone to see my father already… you know, he’s always been bold”, she added.
She also revealed that the mother of Jerry Rawlings was also not supportive of her relationship with the former president and stated that she is not in best terms with her mother in law.
Nana Konadu got married to her long-term sweetheart, Jerry John Rawlings, an Airforce Officer in 1977.
She had her first child, Ezenator Rawlings in 1978 and followed by Yaa Asantewaa, Amina and Kimathi.
