A 25-year-old Muslim man has drunk himself to death in an Akpeteshie drinking competition at Ntankoful in the Sekondi/Takoradi Metropolis on Friday, 29th March 2019.
Patrick Obeng Hamza, the young man who has sadly died reportedly drunk a full one beer bottle (In four quarter intervals) of Akpeteshie to take be crown as the best drunkard in the competition.

Unfortunately, Hamza collapsed after taking in the full bottle and was rushed to Spring Mission Clinic but he could not survive the damage and was pronounced dead a few hours later.
According to Kojo Isaac Eshun, the bar owner, Hamzer and his close friend, Gyentia came to his bar at 9:00 am and requested for one full bottle of the locally distilled gin (Akpeteshie) which they both consumed.
They again ordered for a second bottle but Gyentia who could not compete ceased drinking but Hamza continued to finish the bottle.
Both collapsed after the drinking the two bottles but Gyentia was easily revived and was given a mushed kenkey. He was sent to the hospital with Patrick Obeng Hamza.
Whiles Gyentia was successfully treated, Hamza was pronounced dead at Spring Mission Clinic at Ntankoful.

Meanwhile, a Brother-In-Law of Hamza has revealed that since Muslims do not drink alcohol, Patrick Obeng Hamza has brought shame to the family as a Muslim and he won’t be given an Islamic Burial.
