A suspected ‘sakawa’ boy has confessed to the crime by stating that his mother introduced him to money rituals.
According to Afeez Olalere, his mother encouraged him to use his brother for money rituals after she had introduced him to a herbalist.
He made this revelation after he was arrested together with some guys by the Lagos Police. These guys who are into online fraud and money rituals are called “Yahoo boys” in Nigeria.
In explaining how he became involved in the fraud business, the suspected yahoo boy stated that his mother inspired him to murder his brother.
“My mother took me to a herbalist, who told me that if I want to be successful in the yahoo business, I must sacrifice one life, and that person must be my sibling.”
He’d need his thumbs, his hair, his fingers, and a passport photograph to make a concoction. So we went back home and discussed it, and my mother suggested that we use my younger brother, who is only 21 years old.
“She also brought the poison, which we fed to him.” He died 20 minutes after eating the food. I was the one who cut out the necessary body parts. We then wrapped his body in cloth and took him to the mortuary.”
