The word ‘Celebrity’ has somehow been abused in our part of the world and due to this, Highlife musician, Kwaisey Pee says no Ghanaian is fit to be called a celebrity.
According to him, comparing the social and financial status of celebrities living in the Western World to the ‘so-called’ Ghanaian celebrities, he is yet to see one in Ghana.
When told A-list acts such as Daddy Lumba, Sarkodie, Shatta Wale, and Stonebwoy among others can be called celebrities, Kwaisey Pee on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM said:

“We don’t have celebrities in Ghana. I have lived in the Western world and when we talk about celebrities we know. It’s the other way round here. I don’t consider myself as one. I wanna get to where they will call you that. It’s self-professed in Ghana. There is no celebrity in Ghana. They don’t have what it takes.” he told host KMJ.
According to Kwaisey Pee, the only person who fits to be called a celebrity is Menzgold’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Nana Appiah Mensah, and even with him, he nearly became a celebrity because “he had a private jet and all the luxurious cars” he added.
The “Mehia Odo” hitmaker also said some pastors are close to attaining the celebrity status because “they have the bodyguards, mansions and luxurious properties.
