Hon. Sam George has boldly challenged IGP Dampare’s decision to arrest pastors who drop “false” prophecies tonight to mark the 31 December watch night.
According to Sam George, he’s waiting for the IGP to quote to him any part of the constitution that bans prophecy because he’s yet to read any of such in the state’s criminal codes.

He further stated that he’s ready to learn and be educated on the criminalization of prophecies.
He tweeted;
So what exactly will the IGP be charging Pastors and Prophets with if they prophesy tonight? Which part of our Criminal Codes bars prophecy? I would like to be educated. Thanks.
BACKGROUND
The Ghana Police Service has warned against false prophecy or declarations that adversely affect the life and right of individuals it is intended for.
Ahead of prophecies that would be declared at the end of the year, The Ghana Police Service, in a statement has forewarned prophets and religious organizations to be circumspect in their utterances.
According to the police, the instances where doom prophecies were made to inject fear and panic into people would not be tolerated.
The service insists that individuals or religious organizations whose prophecies will break the laid down rules and procedures could be arrested, prosecuted and jailed for 5 years.
“We want to caution that under Ghanaian law, it is a crime for a person to publish or reproduce a statement which is likely to cause fear and alarm to the public or to disturb the public peace, where that person has no evidence to prove that the statement, rumour or report is true,” excerpts of police statement reads.
