Video: The new records Ebony Reigns set at VGMA 2018 you must know

Besides winning the artiste of the year, Ebony, who died in February after a motor accident, also won the Afro-pop song of the year, the album of the year and her manager, Bullet grabbed the songwriter of the year.

The late Priscilla Opoku Kwarteng popularly called Ebony Reigns won the topmost award, artiste of the year, at the just ended Vodafone Ghana music awards 2018.

The late afro-dancehall artiste has now become the first ever Ghanaian female artiste to win the “Artiste of the Year” award at the annual Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.

The awards which had it’s 19th edition yesterday at the Accra International Conference has never seen any female musician grab the coveted award.[You can see the list of the previous winners here]

Also, the former Rufftown Records/Midas Touch Inc. artist, Ebony Reigns is the first artiste to win the most coveted award, posthumously.

The sponsor hitmaker beat the likes of the most awarded artiste in the history of the VGMA’s, Sarkodie, Gospel star Joe Mettle, Zylofon Music artistes; Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy to win the topmost award of the night, VGMA Artiste of the year, 2018.

On her behalf, her parents Mr. and Mrs. Opoku-Kwarteng, her former manager Bullet and her label mates received the award.

Including the artiste of the year, she won three other awards, which are the Afro-pop song of the year and the album of the year. Her manager, Bullet also won Songwriter of the Year for the song, ‘Maame Hwe’
