Mike Two who is a presenter on multimedia’s Adom FM has declared “No Payola, No music airplay” to ask artiste and their managers to pay before their music are played on the radio as well as their videos are shown on TV.
According to the popular entertainment presenter, the artiste with their team pay for the songs to be recorded and doesn’t understand why these same people don’t want to pay so their songs and videos can be played and aired to the general public.
In a post on Facebook, the presenter said “Errmmm my position on payola is very simple…this yr if u want ur song to be promoted pay as u paid for recording the song…No free promotion…”.
The issue of Dj’s and radio presenters requesting money before playing songs given to them by some artistes have been discussed for a long time. According to some DJ’s the artiste tend to forget them after their songs have become a hit song and hence they also want to start charging for there services.
