Gomoa Central MP, Kwame Asare Obeng aka A Plus, has made serious allegations against the NPP by accusing them of engaging in galamsey to undermine President John Mahama’s administration.
Speaking in an interview on Adom FM, A-Plus asserted that the NPP bigwigs had strategically deployed people to forest reserves and water bodies across the country to create environmental destruction and later shift the blame onto the ruling government.
“When they saw that the NDC had come to power, they decided to engage in galamsey to disgrace John Mahama.

In the whole of Ghana, it is only NPP bigwigs who are involved in galamsey, and it is intentional — to create the impression that the GoldBod initiative is meant to promote illegal mining,” he alleged.
A-Plus, however, commended the Mahama-led administration’s efforts to curb illegal mining through initiatives like the Blue Army but acknowledged that completely stopping mining in the country was unrealistic.
He stressed the need for responsible mining rather than outright bans.
“They were involved in galamsey for eight years. Does it mean that in just three months, the NDC has already started galamsey? It is them.
If any NDC member is involved, then they are only now in the process of procuring excavators,” he added.
