Embattled former president of the Ghana Football Association, Mr. Kwesi Nyantakyi has sued investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas, and the Tiger Eye PI for defamation following the premiere of Number 12.
On 6th June 2018, award-winning investigative journalist and his Tiger Eye Pi premiered his latest corruption exposé centered mainly on Ghana Football.
A lot of high profiled personalities in Ghana Football were captured in the video taking various sums of money and other items to influence decisions which they otherwise wouldn’t have.
Some referees and match commissioners took various sums of money to fix matches in favor of particular teams. Others too took money to give players call-up into the national team among others.
The president of the GFA, Mr. Kwesi was captured taking $65,000 from potential investors who were interested in sponsoring the Ghana Premier League which had no sponsor at the time.
He also revealed his scheme to rob the GFA of sponsorship money by setting up a company to be the intermediate between the investors and the GFA. He also revealed plans to bribe the president of Ghana and other dignitaries for contracts.
Kwesi Nyantakyi after the premiere of the exposé has sued Anas for defamation. According to Nyantakyi in his suit, the video documentary is defamatory and has tarnished his hard-earned reputation.
Nyantakyi is seeking punitive damages against defendants (Anas, and Tiger Eye PI) for defamation. He is also asking the court to place injunctions on the defendants from further publishing the video or premiering it.
