Prophet Ajagurajah has voiced concerns that the matter will likely be disregarded without justice being done in the wake of the unfortunate deaths of nine people in Obuasi as a result of a fight between the Ghana Armed Forces and some young people.
Bishop Kwabena Asiamah, the leader of the Ajagurajah movement, stated in a video shared on social media on January 22, 2025, that those who caused the fatalities would not be held accountable.
He emphasized the spiritual support for the occurrence and stated that AngloGold Ashanti would compensate the surviving family members without making the required inquiries.
He said “Gold needs blood and leaders of AngloGold Ashanti have protected themselves yet they are not doing what needs to be done. So, the spirit in that mining environment will just possess the young boys and this will result in a fight… So what is going on in Obuasi is spiritual and it will never come to an end.
“Let’s give it two years because no one can resolve this. Justice will not be served for the boys who died. The company will only provide financial compensation to the families, and in the worst-case scenario, the military might claim self-defence,” he claimed.
To avoid future conflicts, he also suggested that AngloGold Ashanti’s officials offer yearly sacrifices to placate the spirits at the mining site.
“There should be an annual sacrifice. At least ten cows should be sacrificed each year to prevent such incidents because gold needs blood. If this is not done, the spirits will possess the boys, leading to more clashes with military personnel,” he stated.
