The overlord of the Ashanti Kingdom, Otumfour Osei Tutu II, has revealed that he was the person behind the peace which has come to exist between the two former presidents of Ghana, Jerry John Rawlings, and John Agyekum Kufuor.

According to Otumfour Osei Tutu 11, Rawlings vowed never to speak or meet Kufour after he won the 2000 general elections. As a peacemaker, he invited both for peace talks to settle their differences.

He held another meeting on 16 February 2001 which finally cemented their relations and brought the war between the two former presidents to an end.
