45 youth arrested in the Volta Region for defying President’s order and holding an Easter Party

Some 45 youth from Dzode in Ketu North Municipality in the Volta Region were yesterday picked up by the Ghana Police service in the area for defying the President’s ban on public gathering.

The youth from the town where picked up by the police when they were busily enjoying themselves having a party at a hotel.

Mr. John Avorgbedor who is the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the area disclosed that, the youth were in a party mood when the police got to the location.

He added that most of them were swimming as at the time of the arrest.

The MCE, however, added that the youth including a nursing mother were cautioned and released on bail to go home.

It was however disclosed that the owner of the hotel was also picked up and spent the night behind bars.

“Some are adhering to the directives but some are not taking it seriously, they have never heard about the plague before. We will let them go home any moment from now but we will caution them, the owner of the place will sleep here, we’ve warned him but he failed to adhere so he will sleep at the cell until tomorrow,” he said.
