In the bible, we are told that Jesus Christ who is the son of God fasted for 40 days and 40 nights a record some Christians are trying hard to break just to prove they are worshiping the true God.
Well, a Pastor identified as Pastor Brighton Samajomba, age 37 of the “Heaven Is My Home” of Kazomba Township of Solwezi has met his untimely death after going hungry for 20 days in the name of fasting.
According to the source, the Pastor was observing 30 days fasting but passed on in the early hours of the 20th day after he was found motionless by his wife and his death finally confirmed by a brother of the deceased known as Reagan Samajomba in Solwezi in a telephone interview.
when contacted for a comment North-Western police commissioner Mr Hudson Namachila said he had not yet received a report on the matter.
However, his brother said Pastor Samajomba who led a lifestyle of taking on many days of prayer and fasting programmes, started his fasting on his yearly August fast on 8th with a view to pray for his family and church members who he wanted to remain united.
Mr Samajomba told the Sun that, Pastor Samanjomba took on many other yearly 90 days fasting programmes during which he only had a single meal in the evening each August.
“I would say he died in the early hours because my sister and his wife were there and took turns to check on him, and then it was time for my in-law to check on him, she was with him according to her till midnight,
“Then she decided to rest, when she woke up, they had a tendency of sharing dreams with each other as partners. So she dreamt of something and wanted to tell the husband”.
But as she tried to shake him up, he was not responding and so he was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
“The only consolation that we have as a family is a way he died because he was in the closet with the Lord,” Reagan added.
