Ghana celebrated its 61st Independence Day yesterday at the Independence Square in Accra to mark the day this nation was granted total freedom and liberation from colonial rule.
“Ghana beyond aid is not a pie in the sky notion, other countries, including some of our peers at independence, have done exactly that. It is doable and we must believe that what others, with fewer resources, have done, we can do,” President Akuffo Addo said in his speech at the 61st Independence celebration of Ghana.

At the well-attended programme were top politicians, clergymen, traditional rulers, civil servants and a cross-section of the general public.
