Police arrest seven people in relation to the violence in Salaga

Information reaching Ghanapage.com points out that the police have arrested seven persons in the Northern region in relation to the riot in Salaga.

The riot resulted in the office of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) being burnt to ashes and some billboards being destroyed.

The police picked up the suspects early Wednesday morning to aid them in further investigations.

According to the police, they have currently started investigations into the matter to arrest more suspects.

It was reported earlier that some angry residents of Salaga in the Northern Region set the NPP office ablaze after the President of Ghana cited Damango as the regional capital of the newly created Savanna region.

The angry youth also chased out the constituency chairman stating that they were disappointed in the President’s decision over the regional capital.

The youth set the office ablaze and destroyed several properties belonging to the party in the area.
