Ofosu Ampofo rearrested by Police over recent market fires & kidnapping

The Chairman of National Democratic Congress who is facing charges of conspiracy to cause harm and assault against a public officer following a leaked take which complicated him has been rearrested by the Ghana Police CID in connection with recent Market fires and kidnapping.

According to the police, he has been invited for questioning following a breakthrough in an investigation which his name has come up as part of a grand scheme to cause unrest in the country.

The information was revealed by some persons who have been picked up in their investigation in connection with the rampant fire outbreaks at markets and kidnapping.

“The Criminal Investigations Department of the Ghana Police Service has commenced investigations into cases of kidnapping and fire outbreaks in various parts of the country”, a statement from the police reads

“Intelligence gathered indicates that some of these kidnappings and fire outbreaks are being orchestrated by unidentified groups, persons and individuals. Some of the persons picked up for interrogation and investigation have mentioned your name as part of a grand scheme designed to cause fear and panic in the country,” the statement added.

In the leaked tape which had Chairman Ofosu Ampofo arrested earlier, the chairman was speaking about the atrocities the NDC party plans to unleashed in the country to cause fear ahead of the 2020 General Elections.

Ofosu Ampofo was heard revealing plans to kidnap and NPP members to create fear since the state has failed to protect them following Ayawaso Byelection violence. However, he has denied being the one on the leaked audio.

He also mentioned people who will be attacked in order to demean their offices to create a certain impression in the minds of Ghanaians like the Peace Council and EC chairman.
