President Nana Addo reacts to Queen Elizabeth II’s death

President Nana Akufo-Addo’s reaction to the death of Queen Elizabeth has been met with severe backlash.

In a tweet, the president had written:

My thoughts and the thoughts of all Ghanaians, at home and abroad, are with Queen Elizabeth II, the British Monarch and Head of the Commonwealth, the organization of which Ghana is a proud member, and her family in these difficult moments. I wish her the best and God’s blessings.

The tweet has incurred the wrath of several Ghanaians who believe the President has a penchant for chasing international clout.

The comment section has been dominated by angry Ghanaians are fuming at President Akufo-Addo for paying deaf ears to local issues but jumping on foreign issues with the speed of wind.

Queen Elizabeth II confirmed dead

Queen Elizabeth has been confirmed dead.

Multiple news sources including the BBC have confirmed the death.

A report by the BBC reads:

Queen Elizabeth II, the UK’s longest-serving monarch, has died at Balmoral aged 96, after reigning for 70 years.

Her family gathered at her Scottish estate after concerns grew about her health earlier on Thursday.

The Queen came to the throne in 1952 and witnessed enormous social change.

With her death, her eldest son Charles, the former Prince of Wales, will lead the country in mourning as the new King and head of state for 14 Commonwealth realms.
