When two American-based rappers Vic Mensa and Chance The Rapper met President Akufo-Addo over the week, they were tasked to project Ghana Music to the world.
The president urged them not to just be perennial visitors to Ghana but also to use their influence and social capital to trump up Ghana Music.
President Akufo-Addo in the meeting with Vic Mensa and Chance The Rapper also added that a strong tie needs to be established between Ghanain artist and their US counterparts.
He believes such a connection will serve as a bridge between Ghana Music and the West and would also help export the iconic Ghana tunes and artists to the world.
Vic Mensa and Chance The Rapper have been in Ghana for a while now as they try to bond with local artists and establish a base here.
While Vic Mensa, who has Ghanaian roots, has been to Ghana a couple of times, it has been the first opportunity for Chance The Rapper to be in here.
As a result of that opportunity, he has met the likes of M.anifest, Sarkodie as they look forward to working on projects.
